How can we help?

Last updated: October 8, 2026

If you need help with importing, images, backups, purchases, or your account, review the checks below. If the issue continues, use the contact form.

A recipe will not import

URL or share menu

Check your connection and try again from the share menu in Safari or YouTube. Changes or access restrictions on an external site can prevent importing.

Text input

Include enough text to identify the ingredients and steps. Always review the generated result before saving and edit it if needed.

Images, camera, and backups

Camera and OCR

Check camera permission, lighting, and focus. Review recognized text before saving.

Downloading images again

An image from a URL can be downloaded again only while its source remains available. Manually added images and images with invalid source URLs may not be recoverable.

iCloud backup

Check that you are signed in to iCloud Drive, CookDrawer is enabled for iCloud, and storage is available. Image files themselves are not included in backups.

Restore

Restoring overwrites current data. Create a backup first if needed and confirm the date of the latest backup.

Purchases and accounts

Purchase and restore

Use the same App Store account used for the purchase, then choose Restore Purchases on the purchase page. Apple’s procedures govern cancellation and refunds.

Link or delete an account

You can optionally link an anonymous account with Apple. In supported versions 1.6 and later, choose Delete account on the Account screen in the app. See account deletion steps and troubleshooting.

Account deletion and your data

  1. In a supported version 1.6 or later, open the Account screen in the app and choose Delete account.
  2. Review what will be deleted. If your account is linked with Apple, follow the instructions to authenticate again.
  3. Check for the completion screen. If the connection is interrupted, check your connection and retry deletion while using the same account.

Older versions, including 1.5, may fail to delete an account. Check the App Store for updates; when a supported version 1.6 or later is available to you, update and try again. If no update is available, you cannot authenticate again, or deletion still fails, use the contact form. We will verify your identity as needed and help with your request.

Deletion removes your account and associated server data. Recipes and images on your device and iCloud backups are not deleted automatically. Apple’s device trial-received state is not reset, and unused trial imports cannot be transferred to a new account. See the Privacy Policy for retained information, including the 30-day records that prevent deleted data from being recreated.

Account deletion does not cancel a subscription. To stop recurring charges, cancel through Apple’s subscription management.

Checking deletion and resuming in 1.6.1

In supported versions 1.6.1 and later, if Account deletion in progress is shown, wait a while and tap Check deletion status. The same device can use its saved verification information even if authentication is lost. Avoid reinstalling before verification completes. If verification has expired or a message requiring attention persists, send the time, app version, and message shown through the contact form. Do not send verification secrets, authentication tokens, or private keys.

After the request is accepted, the app stays in offline-only mode. Choose Resume online use on the Account screen to register a new server account and device information. If preparation fails, offline-only mode remains active; check your connection and retry using the same button. Opening sharing or purchase screens does not resume online use. Recipes and images on the device and your personal iCloud backups remain.

Purchased extra imports do not expire while the account remains in use. Deleting the account forfeits unused purchased imports, which do not transfer to a new account. Permanent Plus unlocked through a monthly plan also does not transfer after account deletion. To keep your balance, sign out instead of deleting the account. Deletion does not automatically issue a refund. Restoring a one-time Plus purchase or an active monthly subscription is a separate process from transferring unused extra imports.

In supported versions 1.6.1 and later, we delete the Firebase account and associated server data and request deletion of the customer data held by RevenueCat, our purchase-management provider. Account deletion request accepted includes acceptance of that request; it does not mean every record at external providers has been erased simultaneously. You can check progress on the Account screen. Monthly subscriptions are not canceled automatically. Cancel through Apple subscription management to stop recurring charges. You can continue account deletion without first completing cancellation.

Trial verification fails or the device is shown as having received the trial

The three free trial imports are generally a one-time benefit per device. This allowance does not automatically start a paid subscription. Device checks are introduced gradually in supported versions. Deleting and recreating an account, signing out, reinstalling the app, or changing Apple accounts does not entitle you to a new trial.

If verification fails, check your connection, wait, and use Retry in the app. Free imports may be unavailable until verification completes. Viewing and editing recipes, manual entry, account deletion, and use of valid purchased imports or subscription allowances remain available.

A second-hand or transferred device may retain the previous owner’s trial status. If the result seems incorrect or retrying does not help, use the contact form. Where possible, include the message shown, when it happened, your app version, and whether the device was second-hand or transferred. We review the circumstances rather than treating the device result alone as proof of misuse, and explain the available next steps. An automatic reset or a new trial grant is not guaranteed.
